Satellite vs. Cable
Cable television still remains the option of choice, but
more and more homes are switching to satellite television.
One reason for this dominance is the lack of knowledge among
most American households when it comes to satellite
television. As people become more knowledgeable about
satellite tv they will realize that it has more options and
features.
In the early days of satellite tv they required a lot of
equipment and where rather costly. Having satellite tv also
meant not having access to any of the local channels. With
increased competition and improved technology customers are
finding that those days are a thing of the past.
One of the new features is access to all the local channels
for a few extra dollars a month. Satellite providers have
also been giving away free equipment and installation in
hopes of gaining new business.
Overall, Satellite TV offers more channels to its customers,
along with pay-per-view sports and international programming
that is not available through your cable company. Another key
to consider is cost. Satellite TV is for the most part less
expensive than cable.
Another factor that could come in to play is quality of
picture and sound. Cable can be upgraded to digital cable;
analog channels will always remain analog, while satellite
programming is 100% digital. However, both satellite tv and
cable are subject to interference from weather and other
factors. You the consumer have the final say, but you must
weigh all of these factors in your final decision.
